The MCU is about to dive fully into the multiverse in numerous Phase 4 projects. This all started with Loki introducing Kang the Conqueror in the Season 1 finale and looks to continue in a big way thanks to everything that came in the recent first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
2023 will run with this trend in Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will bring back Jonathan Majors' Kang as the movie's core villain. Taking a deep dive into the Quantum Realm, exploring the concepts of time and space within the MCU, this outing will deliver some huge plot points centered around the franchise's smallest heroes.
Quantumania will also bring a full-blown hero transformation for Scott Lang's daughter Cassie as she takes on the mantle of Stature for the first time. Played by a new actress after the work from both Abby Ryder Fortson and Emma Fuhrman, the threequel's newest star recently shared her own update on her preparation for the new role.
KATHRYN NEWTON BUILDING HER STATURE
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Kathryn Newton took to Instagram to share a picture of her training progress for the role of Cassie Lang.
Newton shared two images of herself in workout gear along with the caption "Honestly why I haven’t been posting."
THE NEW CASSIE PUTTING IN WORK
Cassie Lang has played a mostly supporting role through the character's first three MCU appearances, only seeing about a minute of screen time in Avengers: Endgame. Now, with the young lady about to take her own place in the MCU's expanding roster of superheroes, it seems right that Newton is building up the appropriate muscle to take on the physical duties of the role.
This will also be Newton's first experience with Marvel Studios after building a solid resume in action movies over the last few years. Now that Cassie Lang is set to take on a more leading role in not only this threeqel but potentially future projects as well, it appears that Newton is set for an extended run as one of Marvel's key young heroes.
With filming having recently started for Quantumania, fans are now waiting to see exactly when Newton will begin filming and how extensive her role will be alongside Ant-Man, the Wasp, Hank, Janet, and Kang the Conqueror. Working her way into her newfound powers and abilities, Netwon's new take on Cassie should have plenty of action and drama ahead of her in the future.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release in theaters on February 17, 2023.
